From January 14, visitors to the Goethe Museum (Kippenberg Collection) will be able to see an intervention by the artist Christoph Westermeier. The historical exhibits from the Kippenberg Collection will enter into a dialog with Westermeier's specially developed works. Their themes range from portraits of Goethe and motifs from the Italian Journey - in particular Sicily - to the question of the relationship between art and the archive. The original display cases belonging to the Leipzig collector couple Anton and Katharina Kippenberg play a special role: the artist arranges photographic works in this foam furniture, interweaving different layers of time. This creates a new perspective on the Kippenberg collection: a productive superimposition of places - Weimar, Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Sicily - and times, ranging from the timelessness of the monument to the ageing of faces and archival materials.
