This new acoustic trio consists of three of the most iconic musicians on today’s European jazz, improvisation, and experimental music scene. The formation of this lineup took a long time, but it was a logical step and arose primarily from experimenting with the possibilities and attempts to combine the strengths of two high-energy noise and electroacoustic duos: Ignaz Schick/Oliver Steidle (ILOG) and Ingebrigt Håker Flaten/Ignaz Schick. Both duos were founded in 2013 (ILOG) and 2015 (HÅKER FLATEN/SCHICK), respectively, and look back on a long and vibrant history—with concerts in clubs and at festivals throughout Europe, the U.S., and Mexico. However, merging the two noise projects would have been too obvious a decision and would have somewhat diluted their distinct character. Therefore, it was decided to keep the two powerhouse duos intact and separate—as “sisters/brothers in crime,” so to speak: related, but now united in this wonderful acoustic trio with a “back to the roots” approach: free jazz and free improvisation! Pure, melodic, rhythmic, energetic, surprising, and rooted in tradition.
