Schmelzstoff

In the organizer's words:

... an open Ö_Workshop for costumes, creatures and crystals made from glacier fleece with artist Heidi Mühlschlegel.

For the upcoming exhibition beyond coolness, which can be experienced in the MaximiliansForum from February 4, 2026 and is dedicated to melting glaciers, the artist Alexis Dworsky has rescued used glacier fleece. This is placed on the ice in summer to prevent it from melting - as a kind of "glacier jacket". What remains is a lot of material that is not recycled but disposed of year after year.

Together with artist Heidi Mühlschlegel and seamstress Agnes Andrae, we will take this beige material made of plastic fibers and transform it into artistic objects: We upcycle it into costumes, creatures and crystals. We work with needles, sewing machines, ropes, tape and combine the fleece with other fabrics and textiles.

We are planning an installation with our works in the MaximiliansForum. They will be exhibited there and can also be worn on the hike to the Alpine Museum on Sunday, February 22, 2026 - another warm invitation!

There will be a follow-up date for this workshop on February 21, 2026 from 7 to 9 pm in the Färberei. More information will be available soon.
