In the organizer's words:

Brave New World
From Brush to Matrix

Prologue

Together instead of against each other—that is the motto of our project, in which we—Volker Frenzel, Dr. Olga Fritsche, and Andrea Marx with their photographs; Karl Röser with his generative graphics; and Ernst Spangenberg with his paintings—have combined our talents into a joint project titled“Brave New World — From Pixel to Matrix.”
. During the preparation phase, we were constantly discussing ideas. From now on, the exhibited works will continue the conversation in our place.

For the exhibition, we have selected ten themes on which we present different perspectives. This creates a triad—or, when Ernst’s texts are added, even a quartet.

We hope to engage the viewer through the unusual interplay of our modes of presentation. For some, the text is the most accessible. For others, the photographs serve as a gateway to the overall experience. The goal is to provide the viewer with sufficient material to develop their own perspectives on our themes.

Ernst laid the groundwork for our exhibition with his latest book, *Was kümmerts den Wal* (*What Does the Whale Care?*), in which he wrote texts accompanying 46 of his paintings—or, rather, illustrated 46 of his texts with images. With one exception, our themes are drawn from this book.
