An evening of haunting intensity: Franz Schubert's "Winterreise" unfolds in an extraordinary new interpretation that combines music, words and emotion to create a multi-layered experience. The iconic song cycle is a mirror of human longing, a portrait of loneliness and the unwavering search for a light in the darkness.
The exclusive arrangement by Gregor Meyer, conductor of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Choir, opens up new perspectives: The figure of the Wanderer appears in a new light, carried by the expressiveness of the soprano and the powerful depth of the male choir. The result is an exciting interplay of intimacy and tonal breadth. As a connecting element between the song sections, acting legend Sky du Mont reads texts from the famous winter tale "Bergkristall" by Adalbert Stifter (1805-1868), in which two wandering siblings lose themselves in the dense snowfall. With his distinctive voice and subtle storytelling skills, du Mont guides us through the evening - as narrator, companion and interpreter all at once. The Renner Ensemble impresses as a perfectly coordinated ensemble. Under the direction of Christoph Schäfer, a multi-faceted sound space is created that both preserves and sheds new light on Schubert's music. The majority of the ensemble members received their musical training with the world-famous Regensburger Domspatzen. An impressive concert experience - touching, multi-layered and emotionally powerful.
