In the organizer's words:

Thoughts and feelings become poetry when a love letter tells of tender feelings and heartfelt wishes. Based on Goethe's poem "The Lover Writes" and its setting by Schubert, Mendelssohn and Diepenbrock, this song recital will feature messages from letters and personal words set to music. The singers combine music and language to create a finely spun dialog about love, waiting and hope. Works from different eras trace a moving and deeply human inner life.

The students from the class of Prof. Hans Eijsackers (Professor of Song Interpretation at the Robert Schumann Hochschule) present numerous songs by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninov, Isabelle Aboulker, Weill, Brahms and others with texts by Goethe, Marianne von Willemer, Daumer, Brecht, Lili Boulanger, Louise de Vilmorin and Vilma Grünwald, among others.
