The Sea Is Black:

Snorkeling in the crystal-clear sea, riding a Vespa along the coast, and eating antipasti with a view of the Gulf of Naples—while his mother attends a language course for seniors, Johann Briamonte could enjoy a few days off on Capri. However, the detective cannot relax: He struggles with the heat and the crowds and longs for the cool nights and tranquility of the Black Forest. When his mother finds the body of a course participant in the harbor, the unhurried daily life of the reluctant vacationer is thrown into turmoil. The victim, Heinrich von Bothe—an elegant man in his mid-sixties who was spending his retirement on Capri—was not who he claimed to be, and his extraordinary collection of antiquities brings Briamonte’s colleague Holz from the State Criminal Police Office onto the scene. And before he knows it, Briamonte finds himself dealing with more than just the Italian mafia.
