Sweat and metal
Theater performance by Joe Bogner Carbó and Thalia Schoeller
We wanted: A declaration of love to masculinity. By a couple of non-men. Our own, non-binary approach to masculinity; to what it can mean for us as an aestheticor as an attitude to life. But we find it difficult. Should we really continue to glorify masculinity or is enough enough enough?
Despite its unpleasantness, we unfortunately still find masculinity totally fascinating. It constantly attracts us, and sometimes we even long for it! Howcan we play with it together? Where do perceptions, socializations and structural violations diverge? Indeed, very different stories can bewritten through our differentbodies and identities. How exactly do these stories shape self-perception? What feels natural and what tries to be rebellion? We are looking for answers; not only factually, with words, but alsophysically, with dance, acrobatics and performance. And we also ask those who particularly confuse us: the men.
Together with our audience, we at PATHOS theater want to take responsibility for the climate impact costs of our operations, which are associated with the unavoidable emissions of our theater. The €2 or €6 surcharge on the ticket price goes 100% to the Climate Fair project, which is committed to promoting social and ecological transformation in Germany and here in Munich (e.g. by investing in green electricity systems and energy-saving projects).
