Science Night 2026 - 2. Dortmunder Nacht der Wissenschaften
In the organizer's words:
Dortmund Says “Aha!” – The 2nd Dortmund Science Night with a Spectacular Program on September 25, 2026, at the Dortmunder U
Dortmund is once again set to dazzle, amaze, and wow: On September 25, 2026, “Science Night” will transform the Dortmunder U into a living laboratory. Over 40 participants will take part in the spectacular program—this year, spread across every floor of the Dortmunder U.
Whether it’s spectacular experiments, hands-on activities for children, workshops, in-depth insights into research, or discussions on the big questions of the future: On Friday, September 25, 2026, starting at 4 p.m., the stage will once again be set for science. “Science Night – Dortmund’s Night of Science” builds on the success of 2024, which drew over 2,500 visitors.
A proven concept with new momentum
Science Night is the modern successor to the classic “Science Day.” In addition to highlights like the Science Slam and the popular science quiz, the 2026 edition places greater emphasis on interaction—for example, at the hands-on market at UZWEI, at the first live gaming event at the Kino im U, or during the exciting panel discussions on AI at the Brauturm—the 2nd Dortmund Science Night is sure to spark “aha” moments for young and old alike.
Dortmund: Where Innovation Is at Home
As the only German city to date to have been named a European Innovation Capital (iCapital), Dortmund—with its seven universities and 19 research institutions—offers the ideal ecosystem for this event. Dortmund’s Science Night is a showcase for this concentrated expertise, demonstrating just how exciting “Made in Dortmund” research really is.
Science Night 2026 with a new design
deliberately draws on the style of the ’80s and ’90s, without straying too far from the city of Dortmund’s now-established corporate design. So keep your eyes open and your ears tuned in, because Science Night aims to inspire as many people as possible on September 25—there’s something for everyone! The full program will be available here soon, as well as via the Dortmund app, on dortmund.de, and on relevant event calendars like Rausgegangen.
Let’s get inspired and experience a night at the heart of science!
