In July 2019, Sean Haefeli played with his small band for the first time at Hafen 2; almost exactly five years later, the Berlin trio is back in Offenbach - on a short tour that takes them to the Asphalt Festival in Düsseldorf the day before.
Haefeli "speaks its own language, from beautiful, soulful songwriting... to instrumental jams - all recorded as a trio...and with a penetrating live character. Haefeli's great voice floats above it all in all its facets." (Michael Rütten, Jazz Thing) Sean Haefeli is an Indianapolis-born, Berlin-based jazz poet, singer, MC and pianist. He released his first album in 2002. Since then, he has earned a reputation as an accomplished lyricist, highly skilled pianist and versatile vocalist. His music, unmistakably contemporary, bridges the gap between classical and modern. He is now going on a summer tour with his Berlin trio. The author Kalamu ya Salaam describes him as "a cross between Ezra Pound on the subway and an alternative spoken word down at the Green Mill in Chicago ... he takes unexpected turns, sets lyrics that you at least have to hear ... to decipher the depths being discussed. Sometimes it swings, sometimes it grooves, but there's always something emotional going on."
