After a harmless trip to the movies, a woman gets into her car and drives straight out of her life. A detour takes her off her familiar route, and exit after exit takes her further away from her home and the man waiting for her there. What begins as a short drive home turns into a nocturnal odyssey along country roads, rest stops and through an eerie world in between, in which orientation and certainties are lost. With each passing hour, the realization grows: perhaps it would be better never to return. In "Grüne Welle", Esther Schüttpelz unfolds an atmospherically dense novel about fear, dependency and the silent violence of familiar relationships.
Esther Schüttpelz, born in Werne in 1993, studied law in Münster and worked as a lawyer before devoting herself entirely to writing. She was awarded the lit.Cologne Debut Prize in 2023 for her novel "Ohne mich".
