with Martin Klimas

In the Shortcuts, the Bilker Bunker regularly shows changing, short formats outside the series. This creates space for the spontaneous, creative and deviant.

The Düsseldorf photographer Martin Klimas will kick things off. The photo exhibition will be on public display for three days from February 4 to 6.

The works on show by Martin Klimas are "still lifes" and at the same time have all the characteristics that might contradict such an attribution. The Düsseldorf-based artist shoots the carefully arranged ensemble of flower and vase with a high-pressure gun he has developed, while the camera - triggered by the sound of the shot - takes a single photograph. With this series, Klimas visualizes the contradiction of the simultaneity of before and after, of absolute stillness and movement. The upper part of the arrangement is still intact, while the lower part is already disintegrating. Capturing this transitory moment defines the testimony of the photographic medium in an almost exaggerated way.

The special feature: All artworks can be purchased and a portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Bilker Bunker's charitable area for the realization of further art and cultural programs.
