Silver Gamer: Die wollen doch nur spielen!

"Man is only fully human where he plays", Schiller is said to have claimed. Whether young or old, we love to play. But on a screen? Computer games in particular have a bad image. People have been warning about their harmful effects for decades.

But silver gamers - game enthusiasts over the age of 60 - are not letting this stop them. The German Games Industry Association estimates their number at 6.4 million people. And the trend is rising.

Why are more and more older people playing games on consoles? In addition to the fun of digital games, the positive health effects cannot be denied: computer games improve spatial thinking, reduce stress and even help to make new contacts. Psychologist Diana Huth and gaming expert Linda Breitlauch shed light on what exactly is behind the passion for gaming.
