A "rare combination of open heart and brilliant mind" is attributed to the young conductor Finnegan Downie Dear when he wins the Mahler Competition. Together with the internationally acclaimed violinist Veronika Eberle, the renowned pianist Dénes Várjon and 13 KAP wind players, he will perform Alban Berg's chamber concerto, in which the composer himself said he wanted to "show his brilliance".

Richard Strauss also shines in his last stage work, whereby the ravishing string sextet at the beginning barely hints at the agonizingly intense course of the opera "Capriccio". Ludwig van Beethoven, who in his ballet suite contrasts the subject of Prometheus with his own world view and in doing so makes his masterful handling of stage material audible, is a constant role model.
