A performance by the Salzburg Marionette Theater is a magical experience: traditional puppetry, atmospheric stage sets and the masterfully crafted marionettes transport people of all ages into another world. Founded in 1913, the company, whose performance practice has been a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage site since 2016, is visiting the Pierre Boulez Hall with a prominent musical guest: Sir András Schiff will take over the piano parts in a double evening of scenic adaptations of Schumann's Papillons and Debussy's La boîte à joujoux.
