The musical highlight - an in-house production of the Hoftheater

Experience Sissi in a unique and more intimate form than ever before . Our musical highlight illuminates the life of the legendary Empress Elisabeth of Austria in a completely new light. Under the direction of Dominik Am Zehnhoff-Söns, a chamber musical unfolds on the small stage of the Hoftheater, drawing the audience into an incomparably personal relationship with the tragic heroine whose murder ultimately made her immortal.

The musical, originally performed on a large scale, was reimagined by author and composer Georg Stampfer especially for the intimate setting of the Hoftheater. This unique reinterpretation transports the audience into a bardo, a metaphorical world in between, in which Sissi (Maria Helgath and Simone Werner) meets her murderer Luigi Lucheni (Demetrios Jussi Tsinopoulos). Their encounter initiates an emotional journey through the empress's life, in which Franz Joseph (Dominik Zehnhoff-Söns), her former husband and Emperor of Austria, also takes part.

The meeting of the three characters awakens old conflicts and unfolds a profound drama that brings the often romanticized story of Sissi to the stage in a new and unembellished way. It reveals the complexity of this woman who still captivates the world today.
