Legend has it that skateboarding was born when low waves forced surfers out of the water and onto the asphalt in Los Angeles. Since then, skateboarding has evolved into a unique choreography. It plays with the surfaces of our cities and appropriates public space with daring tricks. Finally, this art of movement is also conquering the theater: together with a group of skaters and dancers, choreographer Mette Ingvartsen is transforming the Frankfurt LAB into a skate park. She adds clickflips, 180s and boardslides to the usual dance vocabulary - a vivid reminder of her youth, when she was a skater herself. The energetic performance playfully pushes the boundaries of what is possible and creates a utopian community in which differences between skateboarding and dance, between high culture and subculture, theater and street no longer play a role.
