Where does a British folk-punk shanty band form? Of course - in the pub around the corner. But unlike many bands with similar origins, Skinny Lister were world-class right from the start - and have been delighting fans all over the world with their captivating music for over a decade.

But back to the beginnings: The band was formed in 2009 when Dan Heptinstall (vocals and guitar), Max Thomas (melodeon) and Sam Brace (guitar) regularly performed together in their local pub in London, belting out old shanty classics. With the addition of Max's sister Lorna Thomas (vocals and ukulele) and bassist Dan Gray, the founding line-up was complete. After legendary performances - for example at the Vans Warped Tour - their debut album "Forge & Flagon" was released in 2012, which received a lot of media attention.
For the second album, they signed a record deal with Xtra Mile Records - the beginning of a successful collaboration that continues to this day. After a few line-up changes, the now six-piece band released the album "Down on Deptford Broadway" in 2014, on which they combined their folky roots with an honest punk attitude. With "The Devil, the Heart and the Fight" (2016) and "The Story Is..." (2019), they consistently developed their sound further - between anthemic folk, raw punk and very personal stories about life and the odd night out.

After a quieter phase - due to the pandemic and Lorna Thomas' pregnancy - Skinny Lister returned in 2021 with their fifth studio album "A Matter Of Life and Love". This was followed two years later by "Shanty Punk" - there is probably no more fitting title for the sound of this band.

Now their seventh album "Songs From The Yonder" has been released, recorded live at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. It is probably their most personal album to date - always tongue-in-cheek, they talk about adventurous travels, family and the odd drop of alcohol.

The live recordings perfectly reflect the energy for which Skinny Lister is famous: Before their first album had even been released, they played more festivals than any other British band in 2011 - you can still feel this joy on stage at every gig. Whether in a Land Rover, on a boat, in intimate clubs or large halls as support for greats such as the Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Frank Turner or Boy George - Skinny Lister create an exuberant atmosphere everywhere. They are perhaps the wildest folk band of our time - and every concert turns into an ecstatic party.

Now they are embarking on a major headlining tour with their latest album in the bag. And with two songs about partying the night away in German cities, one thing is clear: the five German concerts are sure to be the highlight.
