Sky Sounds: Menace x THF Radio

Menace Systemsis aBerlin-based labeland event series that draws on the legacy of British soundsystem culture and carries that tradition into uncharted club territory.

Rooted in the West Indian communities that brought soundsystem culture to British cities in the 1950s, dub and reggae became the foundation for decades of British club music—from jungle to dubstep to grime. Menace draws on this legacy and builds upon it.

For this Sky Sounds event, Menace invitesAlephalef Soundand their custom-built sound system to the THF TOWER. The “AA—Bahama System,” handcrafted in Berlin, draws on the craftsmanship and legacy of Richard Long’s famous New York “stack” designs from the 1970s and has been reinterpreted for the modern dance floor.

The event features a carefully curatedlineup of Berlin DJs andtwo special surprise guests who will showcase the full spectrum of the sound system—from roots reggae to offbeat dub to modern dubstep.

The event will be broadcastlive byTHF Radio, a nonprofit community radio station that broadcasts from the historic gatehouse at the former Tempelhof Airport and serves as an open platform for artists, musicians, and citizens from all over Berlin.
