Snail Eye Comic Festival 2026 in Leipzig: Four days of comics, zines & animation
For four days, Leipzig will be transformed into a cosmic meeting place for everyone who loves comics, zines, animated films and illustration. The Snail Eye Comic Festival, the self-proclaimed Cosmic Comic Convention, will bring together readings, exhibitions, a zine market, workshops and animated films around Kolonnadenstraße from June 11 to 14, 2026. From the open-air kick-off in Plagwitz to the relaxed Sunday finale, everything that is currently moving the independent comic and zine scene is here. Free admission, an informal atmosphere and a packed program.
The program at a glance
The open-air cinema of the Schaubühne Lindenfels will kick things off on Thursday, June 11, from 9:45 pm: Snail Eye Shorts will flicker across the screen in the open air at the Plagwitzer Markthalle (Markranstädter Straße 8).
On Friday, June 12, things really get going from 3 pm. Exhibitions on Kolonnadenstraße and the Zinemarkt in the courtyard invite you to browse until 9 p.m., while the Küfa (kitchen for everyone) in the Libelle takes care of your physical well-being. From 6 pm, there will be readings by Charlie Wagner, Mingren Li, Martin Oesch and Marlene Krause as well as an animated film program with works by Mirjana Balogh, Sarah Kehrwieder, Vera Shysh, Nadja Koshevenko, Rafaelle Fillastre and Nespy5euro.
Saturday, June 13, starts at 12 noon and is all about participation and discovery: Exhibitions and Zinemarkt on Kolonnadenstraße, the Queer Zine Library in KV, a screen printing workshop by OSW in the courtyard, exhibition tours from Rotorbooks, the MitMalTisch for self-drawing, an archiving workshop by the Queer Zine Library and the JOJO Tagtool as an animation workshop. In the afternoon, it will be family-friendly with children's readings and animated films, including from the JugendKulturWerkstatt JOJO, Buchkinder e.V., Linda Schwalbe as well as Rike Nickel and Leonard Schneider-Strehl.
On Sunday, June 14, the festival ends between 12 and 9 p.m.: once again exhibitions, zine market and Queer Zine Library, plus workshops in the courtyard, an English-language exhibition tour from Rotorbooks and the drawing workshop Die Villa. At 3 pm there will be a talk with Doc J Snyder and the comics union K.O. durch K.I.? Work perspectives without future panic. Finally, from 6 pm, there will be readings with Yue Song, Paul Paetzel, Lina Ehrentraut and Victor von Boltenstern plus a final animated film program.

For comic fans, zine makers, illustration enthusiasts, families with children and everyone who loves independent art and the Leipzig scene. Whether you draw, collect or are simply curious, you'll find your place at the Snail Eye Comic Festival.
Good to know
The venue is Kolonnadenstraße in Leipzig with other venues such as the Libelle, KV, Rotorbooks and the open air at the Plagwitzer Markthalle. The program runs daily, many offers are for participation, the Küfa in the Libelle will keep you supplied throughout all festival days.
