Orchestra meets lounge. Experience classical music like never before: closer, more genuine and unforgettable.
"This is how classical music works!" is a concert format that embeds classical music in a relaxed evening.
The focus is on a major symphonic work performed by the Mannheim Philharmonic Orchestra. Unlike usual at classical symphony concerts, the conductor introduces the work with introductory words and gives tips on themes and mood before each movement. This means that even people with little experience of classical music can listen to the melodies with additional background knowledge.
Freed from the formal expectations of the classical concert hall, a new listening space is created. You hear more freely and directly. The distance between the stage and the audience is reduced and the focus shifts to the shared experience.
In a relaxed atmosphere, the evening begins even before the first note is played: guests can get drinks at the bar and take a seat with a glass in their hand. After the symphony - usually after around 30 to 35 minutes - the room opens up again for encounters and discussions. The bar remains open, a DJ takes to the stage and the concert flows seamlessly into a stylish lounge atmosphere that invites guests to stay and linger. The concert evening turns into a night.
