Horst Schlämmer has had enough: Prices are rising, morale is falling, and the bars are closing. In short: Germany’s got a problem—right in the face. So the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Grevenbroicher Tagblatt” sets out on a grand journey with an even grander goal: He wants to bring back people’s smiles! But how does one become happy? Hard times call for clear answers—and since those can’t be found in Grevenbroich, Horst Schlämmer sets out on the journey of a lifetime: from southern Germany to Sylt, from Berlin to Büsum—by hitchhiking, crab boat, or rail replacement service. He meets passersby, celebrities, and psychologists, asks tough questions, and—despite many setbacks—never loses sight of his mission: to make people happy again!
