What remains of humanity when we simply look away? "Heart of Barbed Wire" is a moving look at the reality of war and flight - honest, up close and uncomfortable.

The award-winning journalist takes us to the world's crisis areas: Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, refugee camps in Lebanon, the West Bank and Greece. There she meets women, children and families - people who have lost everything. With unsparing clarity, she tells of destruction, loss and hope, asks uncomfortable questions about the responsibility of the West and documents life in exceptional situations.
