She explains that the album title "Milk for Ulcers" came about during a conversation about outdated healing methods. The metaphor describes the ambivalence of healing: while milk can relieve pain in the short term, it aggravates ulcers in the long term. The album addresses the difficulty of healing wounds without offering simple answers and highlights the complexity of loss and grief. It reflects feelings of defiance, anger and pain, but also hope and joy, especially through her experiences as a mother. The last song on the record, "Blue Team", is dedicated to her father, Paul Auster. Fortunately, she finished it in time for him to hear it before he died.

In an age of AI algorithms, artificially generated feelings and an extremely short attention span, Sophie Auster is an artist who offers an alternative concept with her music. Although her songs are about personal loss, the emotions they deal with, such as grief and anger in the face of uncontrollable events, are universal and unifying. They create a contrast to a media world that promotes isolation rather than community and often fails to recognize the value of such feelings.
