In her sound, Sorvina draws on various traditions of African American music and weaves them into a unique sonic vision. At her core, the New York-born, Berlin-based musician is a detail-oriented conscious rapper who translates the complexity of life into reflective storytelling. But there’s much more to her music: multi-layered jazz harmonies, acoustic folk influences, rich soul passages, the spirituality of gospel—and above all: humor. Together with her five-piece band, Sorvina moves confidently through grooves and narratives, exploring themes such as queerness, self-discovery, and philosophical questions. Her music invites listeners to find themselves within it: She combines thoughtful insights with lightheartedness and wit—in short, with everything life has to offer.
