Stage in Progress

In the Red Salon of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, in cooperation with the Kontakt- und Beratungsstelle für Flüchtlinge und Migrant_innen e.V. (KuB), we provide a space once a month for people in exile who are in transit or want to stay and for those who have just arrived.

KuB is a self-managed non-profit association in Kreuzberg. They offer various free counseling and support services, mainly for people whose stay is uncertain and who therefore have few suitable places to turn to. Those seeking advice receive initial counseling in many languages at the KuB, as well as counseling on asylum, residence law and psychosocial issues, as well as low-threshold social counseling - and they offer extra appointments for women in particular need of protection.

The KuB also organizes German courses to break down language barriers, facilitate participation and strengthen contacts among the arrivals. The target group of these language and literacy courses are primarily refugees and migrants who, for residence and other reasons, have no or only difficult access to other language courses.

German course participants and those seeking advice often express the desire for more opportunities to make contacts, exchange relevant information for new Berliners, and practice the language. Once a month, there is an opportunity to do this in the Red Salon. In addition, various activities take place that are planned together with the participants. These can be games for language animation, movies, making music and much more.
