For the second utterance of STEPPING ON EACH OTHER'S FEET: IMPROVISATION AS A PRACTICE, we are excited to host sōydivision and their project Jendela Sonorama - a communal listening and lecture-performance series.

Jendela Sonorama presents listening as a form of collective sharing and learning. Starting from but not constrained to the personal record collections and research interests of collective's members, unpacking affective sonic histories that deal, subtly or not, with the (often violent) devices, legacies, and complexities of colonialism.

Where do we find the sound of border identities, of new modes of existing? How do we find new listenings, and how do we attend to and witness these listenings?

The goal of the sessions is to question the very idea of a "national identity", establishing a plural and multifaceted South-South dialogues. For the 12th iteration of the series, together with Sōydivision we will look closely into the immediate surrounding of the neighborhood of Wedding, to trace histories, memories and movements in the dynamic relationships between its diverse communities. Following their personal threads Ariel Orah, Pedro Oliveira, Kim Vu and Pisitakun Kuantalaen invite us to question the transformations that occur throughout and across diaspora, what does it take to harmonize together as a whole, and how we can draw from the potential of the dissonance.

Jendela Sonorama Vol. 12 was developed in 2020 by Ariel Orah and Pedro Oliveira, this time alongside Kim Vu and Pisitakun Kuantalaen.

For the second edition of STEPPING ON EACH OTHER'S FEET: IMPROVISATION AS A PRACTICE, we are delighted to host sōydivision and their project Jendela Sonorama, a collaborative listening and lecture-performance series.

Jendela Sonorama proposes to look at listening as a form of collective sharing and learning. Drawing from, but not limited to, the personal record collections and research interests of the members of the collective, affective sound stories are unpacked that engage - subtly or not - with the (often violent) means, legacies and complexities of colonialism.

Where do we find the sound of border identities, of new forms of existence? How do we find new ways of listening, and how can we perceive and bear witness to these ways of listening?

The aim of the sessions is to question the idea of a "national identity" and to establish a pluralistic and multi-layered South-South dialog. This time, together with Sōydivision, we will take a closer look at the immediate surroundings of the Wedding neighborhood to trace stories, memories and movements in the dynamic relationships between the different communities. Ariel Orah, Pedro Oliveira, Kim Vu and Pisitakun Kuantalae invite us to follow their personal traces and ask ourselves what it takes to harmonize as a whole, under what conditions or constraints, and how we can harness the potential of dissonance.

Developed in 2020 by Ariel Orah and Pedro Oliveira, this time together with Kim Vu and Pisitakun Kuantalaen.
