SÜDUFER CHOR + SOM DO BRASIL "GESÄNGE VIELER WELTEN"

The Som do Brasil and Süduferchor choirs will perform a concert with their own personal repertoire. Not only will you hear a fine selection of global song culture, this evening also invites you to spontaneous sing-along moments. After the concert, we invite the audience to dance and mingle at the bar in the E-Werk foyer.

Som do Brasil was founded in 2010 by the Brazilian cultural association Dona Flor e.V. The aim of their project is to explore the size and diversity of Brazilian music culture and bring it to the stage. In particular, their focus is on the so-called musica popular brasileira from the post-war period to the present day. The choir is a point of reference for the Brazilian community in Freiburg, but is made up of people of all nationalities and aims to help overcome cultural barriers with its musical treasures from Brazil.

The Süduferchor is a choir for everyone. It sings songs with and without sheet music in many different languages from all over the world. The majority of the songs are contributed by the singers themselves from their home countries.Since 2016, over 400 Freiburg residentswith and without migration or refugee experience have sung in the choir .The choir has built up a unique song archive in over 20 languages. In addition to numerous concerts and sing-along formats, the choir also took part in major theater productions, such as Tranzitin 2017 , a multilingual music-dance theater with over 100 participants from 19 nations on stage, or in the 12-hour performance durational Für die Sache! at the AgriKulturFestival 2023. In 2020, the choir told Freiburg's migration stories in Stadtraumlieder with songs from 800 years of Freiburg's migration history, which were linked to places of migration in the 20Songs app .
A project ofE-WERK Freiburg until 2023, the Südufer Chor now stands on its own two feet as an association. The partnership and cooperation withE-WERK Freiburg continues to be an enriching and integral part of the work.
