Swing Manouche: Adrien Moignard Trio

Adrien Moignard is one of the most influential guitarists of contemporary gypsy swing. Rooted in the great Parisian jazz manouche tradition, he has consistently developed the style and expanded it to include modern harmonies, influences from bebop and contemporary jazz. His impressive technical brilliance is combined with great musical clarity: Moignard's playing is elegant and fiery at the same time - highly virtuosic, but always narrative, transparent and supported by inner logic.

At his side are two musicians who are deeply rooted in the European gypsy swing scene:

Julia Hornung, initiator of the SWING MANOUCHE series, shapes the sound of the trio with her melodic, clearly structured bass playing and combines rhythmic precision with great musical openness. Giangiacomo Rosso complements the trio with powerful rhythmic playing and sensitive solo accents that lend the ensemble dynamism and depth.

Moignard has long been more than just a fixture on the European scene. As a long-standing musical partner of the internationally acclaimed singer Cyrille Aimée, he regularly tours outside Europe and performs in renowned jazz clubs and at festivals in the USA and Japan. There he is regarded as one of the most important ambassadors of modern Gypsy Swing, which does not preserve tradition but keeps it alive and carries it beyond stylistic and geographical borders.

What is Gypsy Swing?

Gypsy Swing - also known as Jazz Manouche - originated in the 1930s in Paris around the legendary Django Reinhardt. The music combines rousing swing, virtuoso guitar sounds and a large portion of joie de vivre. To this day, it inspires people far beyond the jazz scene: rhythmic, accessible, full of energy - and at the same time highly artistic.
