Swing, sun and summer feeling at the art and culture beach

This summer, the art and culture beach on Oberkassel Bridge will once again be swinging with passion! When lively good-mood rhythms resound and the sun slowly sinks into the Rhine, the city beach is transformed into a lively open-air dance floor.

Once a month it's time to join in with Lindy Hop! Dance to the sounds of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga, Zaz and many more - a musical journey that connects generations and is guaranteed to create a great atmosphere.

The first step is a free taster course in which participants learn the first basic steps and simple figures. Afterwards, it's straight onto the dance floor, where they can continue dancing and trying out together. No previous experience or a fixed dance partner is required - the couples change regularly so that everyone can join in easily.

Lindy Hop, an African-American dance with roots in Charleston, tap and traditional West African dances, originated in the large ballrooms of Harlem in New York. Since the 1980s, this dynamic forerunner of jive, boogie-woogie and rock'n'roll has been experiencing a worldwide revival - not least because it combines joie de vivre, creativity and community in a unique way.

For dancers and spectators alike, the Stadtstrand offers a relaxed atmosphere with comfortable seating, sanitary facilities and cool drinks at the bar.

As always, participation is free of charge. We only ask for a donation to cover our costs for technology, lighting, etc
