„Tag der Archive“ im Stadtarchiv

„Tag der Archive“ im Stadtarchiv

In the organizer's words:

On Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the "Day of Archives" will take place under the motto "Hi! Story". Every two years, archives from all sectors present themselves throughout Germany to draw attention to their work and archive materials outside of the usual customer contact. In Munich, a total of 26 archives provide an insight into their holdings. The Munich City Archive, Winzererstraße 68, is also taking part in the "Day of the Archives" with a varied program:

- Magazine tours will take place at 10.30, 12, 14 and 15.30. Those interested can explore areas of the city archive that are not normally open to the public and discover original documents from various centuries.

- From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the "Open Reading Room", employees of the city archive will be available to answer questions, explain the procedures in the reading room and help interested parties to read historical documents they have brought with them. In addition, the new internal research PC will be presented, which can be used to view protected digital copies and digital archive records.

- At 11 am and 1 pm, Rebekka Ziemer, a student at the August Everding Theater Academy, will read stories from the city archive entitled "Münchner*innen in der Fremde" (Munich residents abroad). She will read from letters and travelogues by Thomas Mann and Ilse von Twardowski-Conrat, among others.

- At 3 pm, the voices of Therese Giehse and Heinz Rühmann will be heard in excerpts from tapes of various productions at the Münchner Kammerspiele.

Admission is free. Access is barrier-free.
