Tag des Offenen Denkmals: Die geheime Welt des Bodens unter dem Grün des Tempelhofer Feldes
In the organizer's words:
Join us as we delve into this secret world of the ecosystem beneath our feet, and let’s explore it together at Tempelhofer Feld—a prime example of urban soil. On this vast open space, the soil is not only an important recreational area but also an outstanding site for habitat and species conservation, for our water resources, and for the urban climate. Learn how the soil here formed and how it reflects the field’s historical use.
We’ll be spending most of our time in the area around the first airport building from the 1920s. Although this so-called “Old Harbor” was destroyed after World War II, its remains still shape the landscape of the northern airfield today, allowing us to explore the history of the soil and vegetation from a completely different perspective.
We look forward to going on a journey of discovery with you!
