Takeshi Matsumoto / Seven Circles: Club Origami

Welcome to the Origami Club! In the theater foyer, Makiko and Takeshi show guests how to fold a sheet of paper to transform it into an animal or other creature. Makiko and Takeshi collect the creations and bring them on stage. And then they tell a story without words that they didn't know much about before the performance. It is the small works of art created by the audience that inspire them: Butterflies, penguins, a hat, a fan or even an airplane. What comes out of the box? Paper is a magical material. It can make music, turn into a bird or become a foreign country where great adventures await. Rob makes the music on the Xylosynth. Let your imagination dance!

The Japanese dance artist and movement psychotherapist Takeshi Matsumoto works with autistic and learning-disabled children in Japan and the UK, and as a dancer with Christian Duarte, Darren Johnston, Beatrice Allegranti, Paul-Andre Fortier and Second Hand Dance, among others. Makiko Aoyama, born in Japan, moved to the UK in 2000. She completed her dance training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds. Since then she has worked regularly with the Fuel Theatre and others. The composer and arranger Robert Howat lives and works in London. He develops music for theater projects, live soundtracks for films and video games and performs regularly with various bands.
