We talk to Mithu Sanyal about 'Identitti' and HHU
In her bestselling novel 'Identitti', Mithu Sanyal makes the HHU campus the scene of the action - and that is no coincidence: the Düsseldorf native studied literature at HHU herself and completed her doctorate at the Institute of German Studies. Can the novel therefore be understood "as an homage to Heinrich Heine (...)"(Identitti, p. 82)?
We invited Mithu Sanyal to a talk on campus. In conversation with her doctoral supervisor Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Pott about her time at HHU, we would like to gain an insight into the successful author's personal relationship with HHU and the institute and find out what connects literature and literary studies - after all, the two protagonists of the novel are professor and student.
Moderator: Simone Saftig - literary scholar at the Institute of German Studies, cultural journalist and award-winning freelance playwright
