Resistant punk women in the GDR / Multimedia reading and concert
In a mix of narrative, reading and image spots, eight female protagonists of the GDR punk scene, together with the author Geralf Pochop, present a piece of GDR history that has hardly been dealt with so far, which Nancy, one of the 23 female protagonists who have their say in the book, describes as follows: "Being punk was a provocation in itself. But to walk around like that as a girl was probably a double breach of taboo, something like a sacrilege in the GDR's understanding of real socialism."
The reading will be accompanied by music from Annette Benjamin (HANS-A-PLAST), Cindy Weihnhold and Alena.
The 80s cult band BÄRCHEN & DIE MILCHBUBIS and GLEICHLAUFSCHWANKUNG will play afterwards.
At the end of the seventies, Annette "Bärchen" Simons and a group of teenage "Milchbubis" began to make Hanover unsafe. With "Jung kaputt spart Altersheime", Bärchen and the Milchbubis delivered THE punk slogan of the time at the beginning of the 80s. Alongside Annette Benjamin (HANS-A-PLAST) and Nina Hagen, singer Annette Simons was one of the most important feminist-inspired, rebellious punk musicians of the early 80s.
GLEICHLAUFSCHWANKUNG, the "punks understand no fun" punk band led by "ski kindergarten teacher" Tanja Trash, are known for their chaotic stage performances.
