Taub sein und trotzdem hören können? - HÖRMESSE „Hear together“

Deaf, but can hear with technology? When hearing aids are no longer sufficient, the cochlear implant (CI) can enable communication and enjoyment of life.

CI therapy has been available in Germany for 40 years. Whether in Charité, UKB, Klinikum Friedrichshain or Berlin-Buch, whether in Potsdam, Brandenburg, Cottbus or Bad Saarow - the therapy is offered in numerous clinics in the region. More than 60,000 children and adults live with a CI, but there could be many more.

There are still considerable gaps in knowledge: unfortunately, people with hearing loss often find out about cochlear implants far too late. This is where the hearing fair comes in. Hearing-impaired people and their relatives in particular can obtain comprehensive information for one day:

• Who can a cochlear implant help and how do you hear with it?
• What do people who have been living with the implant for a long time say?
• How does hearing therapy work?
• Which clinics in Berlin and Brandenburg offer it?

In the lecture program, renowned representatives from CI clinics and other experts will provide information on the latest treatment methods for hearing loss. Numerous people will provide insights into their personal journey with a cochlear implant. All speakers will also be available for individual discussions.

Visitors can also look forward to a specialist exhibition at which clinics, specialist hearing aid acousticians and self-help organizations for the hearing impaired will provide information. A colorful supporting program for children and adults rounds off the event.

All information is barrier-free: written and sign language interpreters provide support; an induction loop and radio receivers can be used.

The Cochlear Hearing Fair is a new type of event format that will take place in four major German cities for the first time in 2024.
