Texture Tax: Hair, Identity & Professionalism

Before a job interview, an important meeting, or a major presentation, many people with styled hair face a question that others rarely have to consider: How will my hair be perceived today?

Texture Tax is a series of talks that explores the intersection of hair, professional identity, and corporate culture. As part of Startup Week Düsseldorf, sparrow brings together entrepreneurs, professionals, and executives from various companies, as well as creatives, to discuss the experiences, assumptions, and opportunities that shape how we present ourselves in the workplace.

The evening begins with an open panel discussion exploring how physical appearance shapes professional experiences and what inclusive workplaces can learn from these conversations. How do you deal with comments, prejudices, and expectations surrounding textured hair in corporate settings?

Following the panel, participants are invited to take part in interactive sessions and activities designed to encourage discussion. Afterward, there will be an opportunity to stay for networking, learn about different perspectives, and connect with professionals from a wide range of industries.
