In 1999, HORCH frontman Adolphi founded this band to open for Jethro Tull—after well over 1,000 concerts and various festivals in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and England, the Celtic folk-rock combo, which has always performed its own material, is now on tour with its 6th album and a selection spanning over a quarter-century of the band’s history.
Today, The ABERLOUR’S are among the few Celtic rock bands from Germany that have been able to hold their own live against originals like Beoga, the Battlefield Band, or Fairport Convention—and they shine just as brightly in the folk scene as they do at metal festivals like Wacken or medieval events like the Medieval Selb. Rare acoustic instruments like the cittern and mandocello meet thundering grooves, while melodic vocal lines complement furious fiddle and accordion parts. Wildly romantic and whimsical stories from Ireland, Scotland, England, and the Mansfeld region; carried by speed folk, worldbeat, and medieval rock—Celtic Folk’n’Beat.
Adolphi—lead vocals/guitars/mandocello/cister/thunderbodhran
Felix Klingner – Violin/Low Whistle/Vocals
Steffen Thomas – accordion, organ, vocals
Meff Schimetzek – Drums
Kai Büttner – Bass
