The Cake Session

In the organizer's words:

"That sounded so selfish that I said I would only bake cakes for myself. But the truth is: you're only successful with the cakes you like yourself. You just mix the others together. You're only successful with what you enjoy yourself. And that applies to everything in life."
(My grandmother, March 2025)

What are the precious moments and pleasurable stories that give us strength, make us feel alive and allow us to flourish?

The Cake Sessions create encounters between young and old FLINTA* - to be aware of each other and learn from each other. We are interested in stories and narratives that show how individual and beautiful we are - and how we find each other.

In the Cake Session at Mousonturm, Anno Bolender and Petra Lehr create a meeting place for voices that are sometimes silenced or overheard in our society. Older people, especially older FLINTA*, are often excluded from telling their stories. The Cake Session offers a framework in which these delicate exchanges can be celebrated, time and space to learn from each other and rediscover the connections between the generations. It oscillates between lecture, film screening, interactive elements and dance. In an intimate atmosphere, we ask ourselves how we celebrate others and ourselves, how we come together and what the joy of sharing is.

And by the way: yes, there will be cake!
