The Dive

Diving is their life - or at least it was in the childhood of the two sisters Drew and May (Sophie Lowe, Louisa Krause). Now, as young women, they still arrange to go diving together once a year. But the bond between them is no longer so close, their worlds have drifted apart. There is a lot unsaid in the air as they prepare for their dive in a picturesque, remote bay in the Mediterranean. While exploring the underwater world off the coast, they are surprised by a rockslide. May's leg becomes trapped. She is stuck at a depth of 28 meters and Drew is on his own to rescue her sister. Not a soul for miles around, her cell phone and car keys have been buried by the landslide. Drew uses the last of her strength to try the impossible and dives down several times to supply her sister with oxygen. Meanwhile, images of their shared past keep running through May's mind. In a desperate race against time, Drew must decide whether she wants to save her own life or that of her sister ...

The renowned cinematographer Frank Griebe (LARA, 25 KM/H, CLOUD ATLAS) was responsible for the visual design. Shot on the picturesque coast of Malta, among other places, Griebe captures the beauty and menace of the underwater world in sensational images of strangeness and intoxicating sensuality, creating the mysterious pull of the underwater world.
