The pop rock duo of Rocky and Ross Lynch (ex-R5) are coming to Germany for four shows

Once celebrated as part of the successful boy band R5, the two brothers Rocky and Ross Lynch have long since outgrown their own musical roots with their new band The Driver Era. Their debut single "Preacher Man" is already a hit in 2018, with 8-digit streaming figures alongside the singles "A Kiss", "Malibu", "Low" and "Afterglow". With three albums, three EPs and a live album released to date, The Driver Era have built up a huge fan community worldwide - partly because singer Ross Lynch is a successful solo musician and TV actor. But The Driver Era is much more than just another music project from Lynch - with over 1.2 million monthly Spotify listeners and worldwide tours, the band has long since become the two brothers' profession. This summer, the band will return to Germany for four concerts.

Ross and Rocky Lynch grew up in Colorado with their brothers Rydel, Riker and Ryland and started singing and learning guitar and piano at an early age. After moving to Los Angeles in 2007, Ross Lynch became known not only for his music but also for his role as Austin Moon in the Disney Channel TV series "Austin & Ally" and the two "Teen Beach Movies" from 2011. Back in 2009, four of the Lynch brothers founded the pop rock band R5 together with drummer Ellington Lee Ratliff, which existed until 2018 and released two albums, both of which charted in the top 25 of the Billboard 200. With the announcement of a hiatus from R5 in spring 2018, The Driver Era was founded as a continuation of the band as a duo. The first single "Preacher Man" was released at the same time as the band's name change - a modern pop ballad with a rocking indie touch that echoed the sound of R5 and helped R5 fans get over the band's hiatus.

After the extremely successful start, the next hit followed in 2018 with "Afterglow", which later appeared alongside other singles on the debut album "X" released in 2019 via BMG. Following the release of the album, the single "A Kiss" marked the next big step in the band's career. With influences from 2000s indie rock and 80s synthesizers, the single laid the foundation for the sound of the second album "Girlfriend", released in 2021, which was described by DIY Mag as a "smooth line in R&B-tinged 80s pop". The soulful single "Keep Moving Forward" feat. Nikka Costa, released in 2022, can be described as an adaptation of this sound into modern soundscapes. Nikka Costa, released in 2022. With funk elements, The Driver Era remain true to their versatile sound and expand it on the bass-heavy "Malibu". "Malibu" eventually became a hit on the third album "Summer Mixtape" (2022), which features dance pop influences and works equally well as a soundtrack for the next road trip as it does as a club tune. "Fantasy", on the other hand, is a world-weary indie rock number that once again points to the musical diversity of The Driver Era. The single "Rumors" was released in 2023 with the usual driving indie approach and subtle R&B influences. On their current single "Get Off My Phone", on the other hand, the Lynch brothers devote themselves to an emotional pop rock sound with summer vibes that is both catchy and infectious.
