With The Ephemeral Lake, the Hamburger Kunsthalle is presenting an immersive installation to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) in 2024, which interacts the unique expressive power of the works of the important Romantic painter with digital landscapes of the 21st century. The latest project by Danish artist Jakob Kudsk Steensen (*1987) combines landscape painting with the latest digital media technology such as 3D painting, interactive design, virtual worldbuilding and ambisonic sound in an extraordinary spatial installation exclusively for the Kunsthalle.
