Caro Trischler is here - and with her a cosmos of sound that begins quietly and gets deep under your skin. At host Gregor Praml's LOKAL Listener at the MAK, the Mainz-based singer and guitarist presents her own songs in English and Portuguese - sometimes poetic, sometimes introspective, always honest and direct. Her music blends jazz, Brazilian bossa nova and folk to create a warm sound language full of lightness and intensity.

"I like the quiet, haunting tones best," she says, "which sound with lightness and intensity in English and Portuguese." These sounds also characterize her current program: it is music as escapism - as a place of retreat and healing in an often overwhelming world. Caro invites her audience to "lose themselves in the music in a daze and block out the world outside."

Her path took her from a small town in Baden to Berlin at an early age - at 17, she was in the semi-finals of "The Voice of Germany" on the big TV stage. But instead of glitz and glam, she was drawn to substance: "I was always looking for music that really moved me - music that was created for her sake." This search led her to Mainz, to study jazz singing and finally to Brazilian music, to which she devotes herself with dedication. Today, she sings classics by João Gilberto and Elis Regina with the same conviction as her own songs, inspired by Joni Mitchell or Paramore - an unusual but authentic mixture.

Caro Trischler will be accompanied by her long-time companion, pianist Ulf Kleiner. In a concert talk with Gregor Praml at LOKAL Listener, Caro not only opens up about her music, but also her story - from Debussy on the piano at home to indie rock in her teenage bedroom and the discovery of bossa nova. An evening between melancholy and hope, thoughtfulness and consolation - carried by a voice that remains.
