The Orchids stand for bright, crystal-clear pop music that can by no means be described as feather-light pop. The five-piece band were formed in Glasgow and have released some of the best pop songs of their generation since their humble beginnings in the suburbs, where the three founding members grew up and started the band in 1986. Their first six singles and three albums (all released on the legendary Sarah Records label) were widely praised by critics, especially outside the UK. Ahead of their time in the early 90s, many are only now realizing how fascinating and mature these early releases were.
