The Pharcyde | 50 Years of Hip Hop / West Coast

The Pharcyde took the hip-hop scene by storm in the early 90s. Their album "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde" went straight to gold status and ushered in a new era of West Coast hip hop. They combined their experimental, often laid-back beats with ironic battle rhymes and intelligent lyrics, setting themselves apart from the gangsta attitude and establishing the Native Tongue tradition in the world of rhyme.

Formed in 1989, The Pharcyde took the hip hop scene by storm in the early 90s. Their album "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde" shot straight to gold status and ushered in a new era of West Coast hip hop. They pair experimental, often laid-back beats with ironic battle rhymes and intelligent lyrics. Instead of gangsta style, they stand for Native Tongue attitude in rhyme culture. A lot has happened since then. Tre Hardson (Slimkid3) and Fatlip leave the group in the mid-90s. Booty Brown and IMANI keep The Pharcyde alive. More releases followed as well as solo records and numerous collaborations and side projects. 2008 saw the first official reunion.
In 2022 IMANI, Slimkid3 and Fatlip launched a "30th Anniversary of Bizarre Ride" tour. This year the three are finally back on the road in Europe!
