Max Bialystock, once a successful Broadway producer who now only produces flops, concocts a plan with his slightly neurotic accountant Leo Bloom: their next play is to be the worst ever! They raise much more money than is actually necessary and hope that the play will be canceled as quickly as possible. They plan to take the rest of the money to Rio. Their choice falls on the musical "Springtime for Hitler" by the crazy old Nazi Franz Liebkind: a homage to Adolf Hitler! They hire the flop director Roger De Bris and the worst actors in the area. Will their plan work?

Mel Brooks' musical is not only a parody of Hitler and the National Socialists, but also of show business and captivates with rousing music and bitter humor that pushes the boundaries of good taste.
