The Sanctuary Mass – a Celebration of Swedish Choral Music
In the organizer's words:
Gustaf Sjökvists Kammarkör
Conductor: Florian Benfer
Organ: Leon Tscholl
Members of the MDR Symphony Orchestra
The renowned Swedish Gustaf Sjökvists Kammarkör takes the audience on a musical journey through the sound world of Swedish choral music from the late 20th century to the present day - an exciting interplay between tradition and modernity. Arrangements of the folk song "Kristallen den fina" by Gunnar Eriksson and Arne Lundmark form the tonal framework for a multifaceted program of sacred and secular a cappella works. In the second part of the concert, the space opens up to a large sonic panorama: "The Sanctuary Mass" by the American-Swedish composer Matthew Peterson is a work of rhythmic power and luminous beauty of sound.
With the kind support of the Dieter Fuchs Foundation.
