The Saw Doctors are a rock band from the west of Ireland. Formed in Tuam, County Galway in 1986, they have achieved eighteen top 30 singles in the Republic of Ireland, including three number one singles. Their first number one, I Useta Lover, spent nine consecutive weeks at the top of the Irish charts in 1990 and holds the record for the country's biggest selling single of all time. On February 15, 2008 they received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards and the list of former Saw Doctors band members is about as long as the list of albums and singles released in the last 40 years. The Saw Doctors are truly Irish national treasure and have endless stories to tell. Be it big political issues or just small anecdotes - this band has lived through something. For example, the incredible story of their keyboard and accordion player Tony Lambert, who won a lottery jackpot of around €2 million in 1993 while living in a converted bus. Coincidentally, the band released the single To Win Just Once shortly beforehand, and we look forward to welcoming the wonderful The Saw Doctors to the Technikum in Munich on May 9th.
