The Schogettes are an almost-all-female formation from Mannheim, who have made "MA-town from the Bottom of our dirty souls" their motto.
The name says it all: their music is as bittersweet as chocolate, their themes are fervor and energy, with which they hit their audience right in the gut and melt their hearts like a Schogette in the sun. They are inspired by the soul greats and girl groups of the early 60s (e.g. Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Ray Charles, The Shirelles, Edwin Starr, The Marvelettes, The Exciters, Marlena Shaw, Melba Moore and others). They are serious about what they sing. Their own songs fit into the set without trying to blindly imitate the style of yesteryear. Along the way, there are always a few sayings and announcements that show how life shapes you if you were born in a garage in MA-town. And if you had nothing to tuck you in at night but some rusty fenders...
"The Queens of Premium Soul" also complete the project of their sisters from back then. While they were recruited by record companies in school playgrounds because they were "young and malleable", the record sleeves of yesteryear usually praised the sound or the producer rather than the work of the singers or the band.
