The S'coolmasters & die Studio-Bigband der HMTMH - Bigband-Night

At the Big Band Night, the two big bands of the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media present the results of the summer semester.

The studio big band under the direction of Erik Konertz dedicates its program to one of the most influential big bands in jazz history: the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra. Some of Thad Jones' well-known compositions will be heard, as well as the lesser-known vocal pieces or suites - they will transform the warehouse into the legendary Village Vanguard for an evening.

The S'coolmasters, led by Prof. Andreas Barkhoff, will present a varied selection from 70 years of big band history. The program includes works by Thad Jones, Bill Holman, Peter Herbolzheimer, Gordon Goodwin and others - a stylistic range from traditional swing to contemporary, energetic arrangements.
